GROUP I

We are Group i, a San Francisco-based design, development, and property management company with a long track record of successfully reinventing boutique city buildings. Through insightful and innovative design, our projects embrace the city experience by fostering 24-hour livable communities with a mix of uses in each location. Group i is the master developer for the 950-974 Market project.

Joy Ou is Group i's President and CEO. She has over 25 years of experience in urban, mixed-use developments in the Bay Area. Joy’s extensive and versatile design background imbues every Group i project with a unique combination of design-oriented solutions and idiosyncratic style. Joy is extensively involved in philanthropy and volunteer activities, both locally and abroad, serving on the board of directors of the San Francisco Art Institute and the Wildflowers Institute, and in an advisory capacity for the Luggage Store Gallery and Global Heritage Fund. She also actively supports San Francisco’s Chinatown Community Development Center and several Tenderloin youth organizations.  In addition, Joy serves as Executive Director of Ou Jong Fa Foundation in Taiwan and is a past Trustee for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.

Architects

Handel Architects is an architecture, interior design, and planning firm that began in New York City in 1994. With more than 150 architects, interior designers, planners, and support staff, the firm is working on projects globally from offices in New York City, San Francisco, and Hong Kong. Internationally recognized projects include the Dream Downtown Hotel in New York City, the World Trade Center Memorial in New York City, the Millennium Tower in San Francisco, and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington DC’s Georgetown neighborhood. Handel Architects has won ULI Awards for Excellence in Urban Design, as well as a 2014 AIA Honor Award in Urban Design for its Boston work. Handel Architects is responsible for executing the project through completion.
